RealPage, a provider of on-demand software and services to the multidwelling unit (MDU) industry, has selected BitBand as its affiliate vendor for implementing on-demand IPTV services. This partnership reinforces the growing emphasis by the MDU industry of bringing interactive TV entertainment to its residents.
RealPage provides products and services to more than 20,000 apartment communities across the United States. RealPage's entertainment and communications service, StarFire, offers residents IPTV, broadband and telephony services. BitBand's solutions include BitBand's Maestro Content Distribution and Management suite, Vision VOD appliance servers and CMSTM, a content management system, for smart, efficient content ingestion and delivery across the network.
RealPage is one of the first worldwide service providers taking advantage of BitBand's Auto-CDNTM technology and online storage solution. Together, these technologies allow the service provider to reduce costs of central storage systems, providing high performance streaming capability for unicast content while enabling disaster recovery and uninterrupted entertainment services.
"Our decision to closely collaborate with BitBand is based mainly on the shared vision of both companies in providing advanced systems for maximizing revenues through introducing premium entertainment services," said Steve Winn, CEO of RealPage. "BitBand's content delivery network offers us the flexibility to meet the dynamic demands of multifamily communities and their residents; we can repackage our offering without having to perform costly physical modifications in the network."
