Telefonia Bonairiano NV (Telbo), the Dutch Caribbean’s telecommunications company, has selected Kasenna LivingRoom middleware and MediaBase video servers to launch a new video service, called MiTV. MiTV is the first IPTV service in the Caribbean island of Bonaire and is considered to be the showcase model for Telbo partner telecom companies that serve an additional 24 countries.
Telbo’s MiTV service is an integral part of its triple-play video, voice and data offering. The carrier is using Kasenna’s LivingRoom middleware and MediaBase video servers to deliver an array of video services, including 40 basic and premium video channels (including HBO, Discovery and FOX), Dutch public channels (Nederland 1, 2 and 3) and international, sports, action and premium movie-oriented packages. Movies and other content will be delivered via VOD as well as PPV.
"Kasenna’s middleware and video servers allow us to rapidly deploy a custom-branded video service offering that excites our subscribers and is a key component of our triple-play service,” said Edsel Winklaar, managing director of Telbo. “We believe that this IPTV deployment will serve as a model for our partners in other countries.”
Kasenna’s LivingRoom middleware integrates fully with its MediaBase IPTV servers to create a turnkey platform that enables rapid and cost-effective deployment of advanced video services.
“International carriers like Telbo are discovering that our LivingRoom and MediaBase platforms allow them to easily deploy compelling IPTV services,” said Vivek Pendharkar, president and CEO of Kasenna. “With a turnkey solution that can be rapidly rolled out and easily customized, Telbo is breaking new ground in the Caribbean market.”
