At the NAB Show, multimedia company TANDBERG Television, a division of the Ericsson Group, is launching its next-generation MediaPath Secure Content Delivery System, which distributes content across any platform or device. The end-to-end technology allows content providers, network operators or affiliates to deliver nonlinear digital HD and SD TV programs, advertising, music and games — from point to multipoint. The solution is designed to allow telcos to collaborate on efficiently delivering more content in more formats. MediaPath gives telcos the flexibility to increase the amount of HD content they offer subscribers, circumventing file limitations and adding ads, games and music to the equation. Telcos can deliver media assets to receiver locations serving set-top boxes, PCs and mobile media players over MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 AVC transcoding. The content is simultaneously delivered via satellite and terrestrially over a shared network, so both terrestrial unicast and multicast distribution are supported. Through monitoring, TANDBERG also ensures content is flowing throughout the MediaPath system as well as the VOD and asset management systems downstream. Currently, the MediaPath system delivers media assets to 900 commercial deployments in the United States reaching millions of VOD-enabled subscribers. The next-generation launch will migrate service providers without interruption to their existing customers. In addition to MediaPath, TANDBERG will be demonstrating new products at the NAB Show, including the RX8320 professional receiver, designed to smooth the digital transition and improve programming reception, and the latest EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder configured for low-delay contribution quality applications. TANDBERG will also showcase its IPTV video-processing platform equipped with the latest installment of the iPlex video processing platform with integrated MPEG-4 AVC transcoding. In addition, a combined TANDBERG/Ericsson IPTV offering centered on converged and personalized TV experiences will be displayed. For more information, visit www.tandbergtv.com. |
