Symmetricom, producer of precise time and frequency technologies that accelerate the deployment and enable the management of next-generation networks, will be demonstrating its 4370A DVB Sync Source at the NAB Show in booth C4544. The DVB Sync Source is a high-performance, flexible and highly reliable timing system designed for single-frequency network (SFN) synchronization for digital video broadcasting (DVB) and digital audio broadcasting (DAB) applications.

DVB/DAB require a precise time and frequency reference to synchronize transmitters across multiple locations. Without synchronization, networks are not able to deliver reliable video and audio content to the end user. The 4370A receives reference-timing signals from a GPS and translates them to generate the output signals. In case of GPS loss, the 4370A, when configured with redundant timing inputs, will automatically switch to an auxiliary input to continually provide outputs that are traceable to a primary reference clock. Redundancy is a key requirement because without GPS based sync, transmission is lost and quality of service (QoS) is degraded.
