The Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) has been chosen to secure content on StarFire, RealPage’s new IPTV service for the multifamily housing industry.
VCAS will secure content delivered from the StarFire headend to apartment homes via RealPage’s private, managed IP network.
RealPage has integrated Verimatrix’s Remote Stream Manager (RSM) that enables seamless end-to-end encryption of centrally broadcast channels combined with secure locally originated content. This architecture eliminates the need for additional costly equipment to be purchased, operated and maintained by the local IPTV retailers.
VCAS for IPTV is as a software-based content security solution built on the principles of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and X.509 digital certificates. RealPage’s Simulation Labs has tested a production-ready StarFire ecosystem in which VCAS is integrated with Espial’s flagship Evo IPTV middleware, Motorola’s VIP 1200 series IP set-top boxes and MPEG-4 AVC video encoders (formerly from Modulus Video).
