The RenderCast platform, already used by several leading IPTV and cable operators based on the MPEG-2 codec, will get H.264 support in the second quarter of this year. The technology will be on display at the NAB Show. The platform, owned by Avinity Systems in the Netherlands, enables on-demand Internet content to be delivered to a digital TV over any network connected to a two-way set-top box. The H.264 codec provides lower bit rates and more efficient support for HDTV signals. The company said it would further reduce operational costs while bringing a new level of user experience to digital television platforms. Avinity was founded in early 2005 by a team of technology entrepreneurs with broad experience in the video and networking industry. The company launched its technology with several operators and content partners in Western Europe and will expand globally throughout 2008. For more information, visit http://www.avinity.net/. |
