Pixelmetrix adds I/B/P frame drop capability to DVStorIP-Gen

Pixelmetrix has announced it has enhanced the DVStorIP-Gen by adding the ability to drop a single I/B/P frame from the MPEG stream.

The new capability makes the DVStorIP-Gen appropriate for lab test applications and allows STB manufacturers greater visibility into the performance of their STBs. One I/B/P frame can be dropped immediately or scheduled to be dropped at a user-defined interval.

The introduction of the packet reordering impairment is important because it illustrates the true behavior of real IP networks. IP networks are designed to allow packets to reach the receiver as packets coming in a random order where they are properly assembled, not as a continuous, ordered stream.
