At the upcoming NAB Show, video server provider Omneon and Pro-Bel, maker of automation and media management systems, have integrated the two companies’ products to improve media workflow and overall efficiency. Pro-Bel’s Morpheus automation and media management systems now tightly integrate with Omneon MediaGrid active storage and Omneon media server products. The combined solution gives broadcasters an enterprisewide storage and playout infrastructure under the control of a single management system.
At the core of the combined solution is Omneon MediaGrid active storage, providing the platform for reliable central storage and easily scaling in manageable increments of capacity, bandwidth and media-processing power. Through the use of Omneon APIs, the Pro-Bel Morpheus systems can coherently control the flow of content within an operation — from managing ingest via the Omneon Spectrum or MediaDeck servers, to moving content to and from central storage on the MediaGrid and controlling playout to air. Because the solution is completely scalable, it is suitable for both local and regional broadcasters as well as large international multichannel media operations. At Turner Entertainment Networks International in London, the combined system is in full operation, the companies said. Omneon Spectrum servers, under control of the Pro-Bel Morpheus system, manage content flow and playout for 20 channels.
