The T-BERD/MTS-8000 is the first integrated SONET/SDH, Ethernet and IP test solution for monitoring network services JDSU’s new T-BERD/MTS-8000 Transport Module is the first integrated SONET/SDH, Ethernet and IP test solution for the cost-efficient installation and maintenance of network elements and services. It addresses all these network types by combining Ethernet, IP, SDH/SONET, T-carrier and PDH test functions into a single instrument that weighs less than 15lbs. Aligned with service providers’ need to test Ethernet, the transport module supports 10/100/GigE and 10GigE LAN/WAN Ethernet interfaces; optical wavelengths are supported at 850nm, 1310nm and 1550nm. The new functionality is engineered to address the growing demands for installation and troubleshooting of Fibre Channel services in metro networks. Other new features in this release include support for Layer 4 TCP simulation for troubleshooting next-generation Ethernet/IP services, Ethernet client testing capability for 11.05Gb/s and 11.1Gb/s OTN networks and support for the installation and troubleshooting of IPTV networks.
Support for IPTV applications includes monitoring and analyzing MPEG-2 streams, accessing them via Internet Group Multicast Protocol (IGMP) and performing true QoS analysis. The IPTV QoS analysis features support for packet loss verification, packet jitter measurement, media delivery index (MDI), distance error and period errors, program clock reference (PCR), jitter, TR 101 290-based statistics and program analysis and their packet IDs (PIDs) per stream.
